At the Child Care Council of Westchester, we count on our members as much as our members count on us. Your support of the Council funds our public education and advocacy activities, which are key to the success of all our Westchester child care businesses.
Membership rates have remained the same for the 3rd consecutive year. There’s also a $500 cap on the amount center-based programs will pay. Your Council membership pays you back with:

NAEYC Accreditation Facilitation Project
Through generous funding from IBM through Work Family Directions, the Council is currently working with nineteen child care centers on becoming accredited by NAEYC. Since 2008, five programs have become accredited. The Council is able to provide individualized consultation and program improvement grants in order to assist centers in achieving this benchmark of quality. The current version of QUALITYstarsNY allows NAEYC accredited programs to receive five stars, which is the maximum number awarded.

A New Guide to the Child Care Subsidy Program
A comprehensive manual for child care providers and programs
The Council is extremely excited to introduce the Providers Manual for the Child Care Subsidy Program. This has been a work in progress for many months. We just received approval to distribute this valuable guide to all providers from the Westchester County Department of Social Services and the Bureau of Child Care Services, Office of Children and Families (OCFS).
The manual contains all the information you will need to really understand how the subsidy system works as well as best practices designed to make your subsidy activity easier and more efficient.
Providers will find information on the following topics and much more:
- What is the child care subsidy and who is eligible to apply.
- What are the responsibilities of parents and providers.
- How do providers get paid, including samples of the provider form, rosters and attendance sheets along with formulas for pro-rating fees.
- Who should you contact at the Department of Social Services.
- How does the authorization process work, along with samples of all documents sent to parents and providers.
- What are best practices that can streamline and improve providers use of the child care subsidy program.
On February 3rd The Child Care Provider Handbook
will be on our web site at www.ChildCareWestchester.org.
