Shake Shack recently opened a new location in Hartsdale, and we're excited to announce that the Child Care Council of Westchester has been chosen as their Charitable Partner! We received the profits from their recent soft opening - $12,000 - the most EVER raised during a Shake Shack soft opening! And, we will continue to receive 5% of the sales from the delicious Pie Oh My Concrete Dessert. We hope you'll visit Shake Shack regularly and thank them for being great neighbors! A Night to Remember

It was so wonderful to have more than 300 members of the community with us to celebrate our 50th anniversary on October 18th. We honored Dr. Marsha Gordon, Clarfeld Financial Advisors, and Peter and Marian Wright Edelman, and raised $21,000 for our scholarship fund. Most exciting of all, we made many new friends who now recognize that quality early care is the key to all that comes after. We're excited to move forward together to realize our vision for Westchester, where every door is open to every child.

Is it a coincidence that it's our 50th anniversary and City and State NY has named our Executive Director Kathy Halas as one of the Westchester Power 50? Probably, but no matter... we couldn't agree more with their assessment!

"Kathy Halas is on the front lines in the fight for affordable child care. Since 2003, Halas has been the executive director of the Child Care Council of Westchester, a resource and referral agency helping parents find safe and suitable child care. That extends to after-school care, with the organization supporting 750 providers and programs for kids up to age 12. When county programs are threatened, Halas heads straight for the county board, appealing to legislators and getting results for Westchester families."

Scarsdale, NY (September 2018) - The Child Care Council of Westchester (CCCW) will celebrate its 50th year by honoring individuals/organizations that exemplify its mission and vision: "Business Visionary" Dr. Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester; "Give Local Leader" Clarfeld Financial Advisors; and "Child Advocacy Pioneers" Peter Edelman, professor at Georgetown University Law Center, and Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children's Defense Fund. They will be recognized at a cocktail party from 7:00 to 10:00 pm on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Elmsford, NY.
